Around 1400 pupils attend the college.
The school was also awarded specialist status and received a grant for developments in the area of "Performing Arts". A new music block was built, with hi-tech equipment such as a recording studio, a dance studio, over 300 computers and numerous practice rooms.
Its library (Independent Learning Centre - ILC) has been converted into a room for homework help and computer access.
The RE rooms as they were from 1972-94 are now a gymnasium, containing the very latest in keep-fit equipment.
The school gained notoriety in 2003 when a group of youths committed an arson attack against the technology building. [1] [2]
